LIVING SINGLEHOOD

Living Singlehood is my book project based on 48 interviews with unmarried Black women ages 20-50. This project explores the societal and cultural factors shaping Black women’s unmarried lives before and during the COVID-19 pandemic. Living Singlehood argues that single Black women’s experiences of unmarried life are shaped through socialization processes, overlooked mechanisms governing singlehood.

Living Singlehood looks beyond stereotypes to explore the meanings Black women make of their own unmarried lives.

Media shape numerous facets of children’s lives. Emerging from my professional experience as a public health educator, this purely quantitative line of my research program explores how media shape children’s sleep, health, and development.
